First Murray traces the history of Pink, how he grew up in a pious home, but became attracted to the occultist realm. He then traces how Pink was slowly advancing in the occult society until one night where Pink’s father, as his custom, waits for Pink to return and speaks some words or bible verses to Pink. That night, Pink was constantly interrupted by the very verse spoken by his father “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12). That marked the return of Pink to the faith. So real was his conversion that he took the pre-arranged appointment to speak at the occultist meeting to preach the gospel to the people gathered there.

Writing about Christian living:
The best of God's children (if there be any best!) are frequently affected with fits of unbelief and chillings of love. Today they find themselves earnestly proposing and resolving to do those things which are good, but tomorrow discover their zeal has somewhat abated, so uncertain and inconstant are their affection. Now hopeful, anon despondent, now singing God's praises, anon their harps upon the willows; now walking obediently in the path of the Divine precepts, anon straying in the path of the meadow. None differ so much from them as they often differ from themselves! Some will glorify God in one condition, but dishonour him in another. They may conduct themselves becomingly while God keeps them low, and then become fretful against him when they are exalted. On the contrary, others who tread softly in time of prosperity are filled with murmuring when the cold winds of adversity smite them. (Murray, 2004, p. 203)

The Life of A. W. Pink - An excerpt
From Life of Arthur W Pink (Revised and Enlarged Edition)
Although it was written about 70 years ago, it still strikes us as a question we ought to often ask ourselves.

For free shipping internationally: Life of Arthur W Pink (Revised and Enlarged Edition)"Today it is true almost everywhere that we are far more concerned about the results of the gospel than we are about the purity of it! We are more concerned in the blessing of man than we are about the glory of Christ! Is not that true? Is it not true than the first great question asked everywhere today is, What are the 'results'? What is the fruitage? How many people have been saved in your church last year? I am not saying that the question has no importance, but I do say that, if that is the first question that is asked, it only shows what a low level we are living on! The first question we ought to ask is, How scripturally is the gospel being preached in your church? Is the preacher magnifying Christ? Is the preacher emphasizing the absolute sufficiency of his finished work? Does the preacher make it plain that God does not ask the sinner to do anything, that Christ has done it all for him? Ah, my friends, when the preachers today are tested by that, there are mighty few of them that will survive the test. How many there are today who tell the poor sinner that he has got to give his heart to God! Well, you say, isn't that right? Isn't that true? Must not the sinner give his heart to the Lord if he is going to be saved? Oh, the tragedy that such a question has to be asked! We talk about progress and advancing; why, we need indoctrinating in the ABC of Christianity, and the ABC of Christianity is the gospel! No, my friends, no sinner was ever saved by giving his heart to God. We are not saved by giving, we are saved by God's giving...." (p. 99-100)
